Who we are

Carr & Sons Seafood factory is based in Killala, a small fishing village on the North West coast of Ireland where it employs approximately 75 people.

The traditional taste of Ireland with the needs of the modern consumer.

The factory specialises in traditionally smoked fish and has been operational in Killala since 1998. Although its origin is Irish, the company is now part of Oceanpath group in Ireland which is owned by Iceland Seafood International.

What we do

Quality and taste have been the hallmark of Carr & Sons for over 50 years. This has been preserved in the wide range of fresh and ready to eat seafood products, which subtly combine the traditional taste of Ireland with the needs of the modern consumer.

Carr & Sons cooked seafood products marry together our dedication to tradition, quality and taste. We are committed to producing premium quality distinctive seafood products which aim to meet or exceed customer expectations. We are committed to continuous improvement and innovation to ensure that we are increasingly superior to our competitors and we maintain the highest level of documentary quality management systems. Currently, our products are sold in most of the retail outlets in Ireland and many of the larger retail stores in Ireland also stock our products under ‘own brand’ labels.

BIM Seafood Processing Capital Investment Scheme

Carr & Sons Seafood Ltd have successfully completed an impressive Extension at the Killala Plant. This phase of investment was assisted by Bord Iascaigh Mhara under the Seafood Processing Capital Investment Scheme which is funded by the European Union and Irish Government through European Maritime and Fisheries fund Operational programme 2014-2020. We have achieved our goal to produce a competitive premium product and building on our commitment to the Origin Green programme.
