In the 1940’s, William Carr started his own business in Curraglass, the heart of the Blackwater valley.
A forager, trading in game, fish, eggs, fruit and vegetables, William sold his produce from village to village, trading from his horse and cart.
By the 1970’s, he had built a business concentrating on sourcing and producing quality food from the local community to sell to national and international markets.
Since then our family business has grown and evolved into a fine speciality seafood producer with our own traditional smokery located in the picturesque fishing village of Killala, Co. Mayo in the West of Ireland. The nearby town of Ballina is home to Ireland biggest Wild Salmon Festival.
